(Heart) Horses (Practical Scrappers DT - Sketch)

This weekends sketch at Practical Scrappers is by Lucy and it's totally awesome.
Also I've been lurking at a site I recently found called Corrosive Challenges and this week's theme is LOVE and since this fits perfectly, I'm sharing it over there as well.
Here's the sketch and go over to the blog and see what the DT did.  Below the sketch is my layout:

2009 Canvas (Frosted Designs DT)

This week at Frosted Designs the challenge is EMBOSSING:
So I decided to try embossing (wet) on a canvas.  The swirly at the top left, the 2009 date, the clock in the center and the bottom border were all embossed in black.  Then I used Stickles in Aqua and Red to highlight the embossing.   The alphas are MM stickers and the other items not mentioned above are rub-ons.  TFL...
and get over to Frosted Designs & enter the challenge!!

Circle of Love (Sketchy Thursday 1.21 challenge)

This week at Sketchy Thursdays the sketch is really cool:

Here is my layout...it's an older photo, but I was flipping through some old photos and this one made me smile.    Papers are all Basic Grey (different lines), alphas & brads are also BG and the rubons are Crate.  TFL!

You have My Eyes (Practical Scrappers DT - 2+ pp challenge)

This week's challenge at Practical Scrappers is to use 2 or more Patterned Papers.

I LOVE the Jillibean Soup papers... (these are some of the "old" lines...gorgeous new stuff coming out at CHA this week)...   So here is a layout I did using some of those papers.  I love how this photo of Joseph's face (specifically his eyes) looks EXACTLY like mine.  So, it was a fun thing for me to document for him.  Everything is Jillibean Soup except the buttons & rhinestones (in the buttons) and the alphas.    I also used a sketch from Creative Scrappers (sketch #85).

My Boys (Practical Scrappers DT - Sketch)

This weekends sketch at Practical Scrappers is by the awesome Ann-Katrin:

And here's my layout:
Some fringey trim from the local fabric store, some different tape products and lots of rubons!  TFL

I (heart) U - (Frosted Designs DT - Chipboard)

This week at Frosted Designs our challenge is to use chipboard.

The puzzle pieces are Rusty Pickle & I painted them brown and then scuffed up the edges so you could see the outlines really well (and you can tell it's a puzzle!!).  The creams & reds are all Bo Bunny & Heidi Swapp chipboard (used as packaged).  And the little sticker that says Love & Kisses is mounted on a chipboard square.  Of course, I had to pop-dot the photo since 1/2 of it was on the cb puzzle pieces.   So then all the other pieces in that lower left corner are all layered and this has a real pretty look in person.  I should've taken a close up photo of that, but didn't think of it until I was sitting here typing!!  Anyway..TFL.
(you can double click on the layout to get an closer look, if you want to see details)

Puddle Jump (Sketchy Thursday 1.14 challenge)

Another great sketch from Sketchy Thursdays.

And here is my layout:

Handsome All Star (MME Blog challenge #7)

My Minds Eye is having a little sketch contest & you have to use 80% MME product (no problem for me, I think I have every piece ever made .... twice...once already scrapbooked & once too pretty to use!!)
Here is the sketch:

And here is my layout:

The only thing NOT My Minds Eye is the cardstock & the brads.
This is the Dreamy 2 line.  I popped the 2 lower stars for dimension (and to hide that there are no "points" on the top two tips of the star that is on the "ALL STAR" since I cut off that side of the title to allow more of the orange circle to show)

Frosted Designs announces new Design Team Today

And yep....I'm so honored to be selected for this great Design Team.  I've been doing their challenges for a while (and even won a couple) and it's a lot of fun...and there are some really talented gals doing projects over there...it's very inspiring.  So head on over to the Frosted Designs blog and read about all the new DT members .... including me, my BF Erika Hayes and also Kim Sparks (who is on the Practical Design team too and does GORGOEOUS work!!!)  -- and 7 other women that I'll be getting to know soon!!

This is my second post today...please scroll down or navigate on the sidebar to "Live Laugh Love" ... it's one of my fave layouts lately!

Live Laugh Love (Practical Scrappers DT - Embossing)

The challenge this week at Practical Scrappers is to emboss..any kind, wet, dry ..etc.
I stamped the two big swirly designs...both Fancy Pants stamps and embossed them in Green & Black powder.
For the title, I used a Foam Stamp and embossed that with white.  Also emossed is the monogram J.
One thing I wanted to share was that there were a few areas where the stamp didn't ink the paper and therefore the powder didn't stick.  So I just filled those 'empty' areas with rub-ons.  (see in the middle of the black swirly where I added some black flowers and also in the title on the letters g & h).    TFL!!  (you can click the layout to enlarge it and get a close up view)

Wii for Mii?!!

For this layout, I worked in 2 challenges.  I do that sometimes, when it works for me.

So this is for a new (to me) sketch blog I found called Unscripted Sketches.
Really liking their sketches!!
Here is the sketch this week (#37)

And for Frosted Designs this week, the challenge is inking.  I inked the white mat, the white circle which is under the transparancy circle (Merry Christmas)...which really didn't stand out until I did ink it!!  I also inked the journal box & the Leather Photo Corner (which is a Making Memories frame that I cut in half to make the photo corner!)  TFL!!

The Hose (Scrappiest #46)

Sketch #46 at The Scrappiest is:

And here's my layout of Joseph & my friend Allison's son Aiden playing on a "real kids" firetruck..actually in this photo they were playing with the hose.

Cute Suit (Practical Scrappers DT - Glitter/Bling)

This week at Practical Scrappers, our challenge is to use Glitter/Bling.
Who said boy pages can't have glitter/bling? Not me!!

I used a Prima transparancy that had some glitter on it already. I added Stickles around the transparency & right on the photo edges.  The swirly rub-ons are Basic Grey "Bling it On" -- I used the bling from those and also added some blue Stickles dots for added color & bling.  The "Precious" bling is Prima and the Cross blingy brad is Creative Imaginations.  Glitter Alphas are AC thickers (large & brackets) and Making Memories (small).  Click on layout to enlarge and get a better view, if you want.  TFL!!  -- And get over to Practical Scrappers & upload your glitter/bling projects....go....do it!

Gettin' Some Air (Sketchy Thursday 1.07.10 challenge)

This week at Sketchy Thursdays -- the AWESOME sketch is:

And here is my layout ..  Joseph doing flips on the Bungy trampoline at Glendale Glitters.
(He saves his own money to be able to do this... and yes, that story is scrapbooked already...this is just an extra photo that I thought was fun for this sketch & paper).  Oh, the paper is Bam Pop that I got in a Torendi kit.  And the letters WERE AC Remarks stickers that DIDN'T STICK...they kept peeling up, even when I tried to add glue dots.  So I just traced around them and took them off.  I think it turned out ok...

Birthday Cake Kiss (Sketchy Thursday Second Chance Challenge)

This is the Second Chance sketch from Sketchy Thursdays:

They've called it a "card sketch"...although we are allowed to do layouts, so...since I don't do cards, and I LOVE the sketch..I decided to scrap one of my son's friends (Lauren) from her Birthday party back in September.  I got this great shot of her with cake all over her face!  I hand stitched the swirls and added a little bling.  Really happy with how this one turned out.  It'll be a gift for her parents (and a great excuse for us to get the kids together again, since they go to different schools now... they were Pre-K classmates).

In the branches (Sketchy Thursday 12.31 sketch)

This weeks sketch at Sketchy Thursdays is:

Easy right?  Well, for some reason...I really struggled with this one.  Not sure why...maybe just lacking mojo or something this week.  Anyhoo....I decided to just call it done and move on.  Here it is:

FUN - (Acrylic Mini Album - SOS DT challenge)

After I took these photos of my son on a "wall of graffiti", I knew they'd look really cool in an acrylic album where I could "show through and share backgrounds". But in my illustrious stash of mini-books, I did not have an acrylic book that suited my needs. So, I just did nothing with my idea (except whine to my husband, I guess...lol!).
For Christmas, he had stopped by the local scrapbook store and bought me a few things, including 12x12 sheets of ACRYLIC!!! (thinner than regular acrylic books, but thicker than a transparancy). They were around $2 per sheet, I think.
I used one and cut it to 12x6 to make the 2 inner pages for my book and just used deco scissors on the edge. I used Chipboard scraps for the 6x12 back cover and smaller front cover. I used LOTS of rub-ons and transparancies. Also, notice the "swirl" on the first acrylic page (at the top)? It's an acrylic stamp...dh bought it for me too (it was only $1, so I figured that's about the normal price of an embellishment anyways, right?).
On the acrylic pages the photos are back to back (so one photo is directly behind the photo on the front that you can see).

U R A Superstar (Practical Scrappers DT - Buttons)

This week at Practical Scrappers our challenge is to use "buttons" on your layouts.
There is a bonus prize for the layout with the most buttons...pretty cool!
You should head over there and see the AWESOME layouts the DT has to show you!  Very inspiring.

I don't really like buttons too much...so this was a GREAT challenge for me!
I added rub-on's (AC - Remarks) to the to top of some of mine to make them not look so "buttony"....

Spritzed paper with Smooch and then some other rub-ons and a little Ric-Rac...and I saw this sketch a few weeks ago somewhere...but for the life of me I can't remember where.  But it kinda stuck with me in the back of my mind, so I'm sorry for not giving the site... It sure did stick in my head though!

Sorry the photo is a little dark.... if you click on it, it'll enlarge and you can get a better view.  TFL!!!
