Some fun stuff for today!!!

HELLO!!!!  This week at MEMORABLE SEASONS we are in week number 4 of our THROWDOWN challenges!!  This week TAMI was our host chef and her challenge was 5+ patterned papers, and embellishment cluster with 3+ parts, ONE photo and use something "non-scrapbook" related.
So I created this...and those white "flowers" are actually tile spacers...

AND...I found a new challenge site and thought I'd play along...THE PAPER VARIETY challenge is stitching..so I hand stitched a half circle in orange on this layout.

And tomorrow is my DT reveal for our March kits over at MEMORABLE SEASONS, but I wanted to give a little sneaky.....  and show this card that I made using a sketch I saw over at KIM KESTI'S THINK FAST blog..(she rocks)....  ---- Come back tomorrow to see all my creations with this month's kit!!

Politically Correct @ age seven - FUNNY story!!

Well, I'm very excited to share this layout with you today...first, because I LOVE the journaling...it's one of those "document the funny things your kids says"..and I love this sketch from Susan Stringfellow over at SKETCH SAVVY that this is the third layout I've done with it.    This is for the "OPEN CHALLENGE"  (meaning we can use whatever sketch we choose) over at SKETCHES IN THYME.

I used Basic Grey Oliver...and before you read the journaling....  how politically savvy are you???  Do you know what an "earmark" is?  As I've repeated this conversation to friends, I didn't realize how many adults don't know what earmarks are... (don't email me if I don't get this description exactly correct...it's just how "I" see earmarks)  --  so basically, it's like a little "promise for money for something" that a legislator puts in a bill to get funds for a little project in their state.  Like, let's say a bill is sponsored by a senator from Ohio and I'm a senator in Arizona.  I have them put in a promise/earmark for $100,000 for light rail funding and then I'll promise to vote yes on the bill.  -- Not exact...but close... and basically the way, we've explained it to Joseph.
Double click to enlarge if you need to...

And at SCRAP OUR STASH our challenge for Feb is LOVE...so here's a little layout I did using a pic that Joseph took a few months ago...ok, I guess about a year ago....

Lucky Man, Family Resemblance & Inside Joke!!

Howdy!!!  So right now we're having a THROWDOWN challenge (Bobby Flay style) at MEMORABLE SEASONS (7 weeks of fun!!)  .. each week a DT member gives you a throwdown challenge using their own style...This week our "throwdown chef" is Kristin and her challenge is WHITE SPACE (main ingredient),  and her special seasonings are Misting, Masking & Doodling.

Here is my layout:

And at FROSTED DESIGNS our "sketch along Tuesday" sketch is this:

And I made this layout using Graphic 45 papers....
And then I found out our sponsor was Nikki Sivils so I used her Tree Love collection and made another layout using the same sketch.  Now, her collections don't have big die cuts and I didn't have any "large" pieces of this line left, so I drew my own die-cut...  I really like how that turned out..so I may just do that again!!

Peace & Tranquility

Happy Friday !!  Seems that Friday is becoming my regular day to post on my blog...  hmm....

So, this month's sketch at MEMORABLE SEASONS is a gorgeous one by Susan Stringfellow.  We also were supposed to use the theme LOVE (it IS February, afterall).
Also, over at SCRAP OUR STASH our theme for Feb is LOVE.   So, this layout is serving Double Duty for both Design Teams.  Good thing I really like how it turned out!!!  I used Graphic45 papers....

Also, we are having weekly THROWDOWN challenges (ya' know like Bobby Flay?)..... at MEMORABLE SEASONS... This week's challenge was to use ALL PATTERNED PAPER, (no cardstock even to mat photos)...also a little stitching and some bling or glitter.

I used Sassafras Mix & Mend and made this cute little layout!!

Happy Friday - Happy layouts!

Ok...  I must say that the 2 layouts that I'm going to post in this post are a couple of my faves that I've done recently!!

First for the SKETCHES IN THYME challenge this week, we have this cute little sketch:
And here is my DT page using Crate Restoration!!  I love these pics of Joseph, so that could be why I like this page so much.  That small photo on the right is Popped so it really stands out "live"...

And I thought I'd tackle the SKETCHY THURSDAYS Guest Design Team sketch challenge this month..

Now the reason I ended up doing this was because my January Kit from SCRAPBOOK CIRCLE was laying on my table and I saw this sketch and the "extra" requirements...which are:  Use RED and TORQUOISE, USE HEARTS & MAKE A LIST.  So, since the kit was "valentiney" and had red & teal...  well... mojo took over and this is what I ended up with...

I liked the polka dot paper background was really inspired by the banner on this sketch...
Notice that my "list" is around the edge of the layout....  double click to view larger.

Paradise & a couple FLYING layouts...

Some DT layouts and a few "extras"....

This week at SKETCHY THURSDAYS they have this cute little sketch...

And here is my layout of us Kite Flying...I needed "bright" papers, so I pulled out an old Basic Grey line...Lime Rickey!!

I LOVE this sketch by Susan Stringfellow over at SKETCH SAVVY

The first layout I did with it is SOOO bad that I won't even post it.... but then attempt number 2 (above) came out a lot better...    I did a third layout that I REALLY like.... but I'm saving that one for an upcoming DT post!!! (It'll post on 2/24)

At SCRAP OUR STASH our challenge is to "lift" this layout by Gemiel.

I used the basic design of her layout to create my SAN FRAN layout using Circa 1934 papers.

And this week at FROSTED DESIGNS our Sketch along Tuesday sketch is this one below... I made a layout of Joseph leaving food for Santa's reindeer!

And this week at MEMORABLE SEASONS we are starting a 7 week THROWDOWN contest.  The first "recipe throwdown" was by Telah and the ingredients were 3 photos...balanced.  Special seasonings of "inked edges", Scallop Border...
Also I saw a really cute layout by Detta at MEMORABLE SEASONS and I lifted it to make this layout for a friend of mine.  These are her kids and she was thrilled to get this layout.  I used Circa 1934.

Thanks for stopping by!!!

Memorable Seasons Feb DT Kit

Loving this months DT reveals over at MEMORABLE SEASONS!!!  What a talented group of ladies...I'm really honored to be on this DT!!  Jill split up the "valentine" love kits this month...so, we got to pick from either Pink Paislee Sweetness or Echo Park Be Mine....I thought that bright pink on the EP was just a little too much for me, so I went for PP Sweetness.  Here is my kit and my layouts that posted today!!

And here is the B side of the papers..(I mostly used the B side so I wanted to show it)

For this first layout, I fussy cut one of the papers and overlapped it along the bottom, pop dotting one side. Also, I used the pleated ribbon and made my own flower!  (This is my niece Sarah)...

For this layout, I rolled up some edges of pp, and after I painted the chipboard label blue, I realized it needed a little more, so I added Stickles....and how almost perfectly did that match the glitter stickers from my kit?!!!

For this layout, I added lots of extra Stickles to the flowers on the pp (at the top).... then I wanted to use the glitter stickers in the kit, but they were BLUE...wrong color.... so I used pink Stickles on them and they match much better !!! Also, that pesky brown pleated ribbon didn't want to be 'straight'...so I left it curved and like how it accenuated that area.

And....I don't do girly, flowery layouts very often...so the above 3 layouts was a lot of flowers for me... so I wanted to do a "BOY" layout with this kit!!!

AND... I've started a "printers box/shadow box" project. I'm really taking my time on it...so it's not done so I don't want to share it yet...but I did use my kit for the background and yellow alphas (names) in this one section...so here's a quick shot of that..(also used one of those yummy Metal Sassafras flowers)

And I made a few cards:

On this first one, I didn't like how the yellow felt looked against the cream card...so I added the pleated ribbon around the outside!

And...last but not least, I wanted to share what is left of my kit....

Funny...these alphas rock..I used the heck out of them and I still have a bunch left!!! LOVE THAT... (and I never ran out of any letter I wanted ...!!!)

Thanks so much for coming by.... I really appreciate your support!!!
