Ride Em Cowboy - Practical Scrapper "punch" layout

This week's challenge at Practical Scrappers was using PUNCHES on our layouts. It's really funny because last week I did this layout...but something was missing (see below).
So, it's just been sitting on my table waiting for inpiration (or for me to throw in the towel & call it done).
I added different size circle punches & it's so much better!! What a big difference a few circles can make!!
The striped material is FABRIC (not paper)... TFL!!
Sketch inspiration from Little Shop of Sketches #52.

"Your Best Work" (Practical Scrappers - Office Supply Layout)

This is my first project as a Design Team member at Practical Scrappers.  This weeks challenge was to use Office Supplies.  I used a file folder & a paper clip.

I used a file folder (from when I used to work at a body shop)...covered it with some LUXE line paper and added some red thickers.  A little splash of white (squares) is Bazzill Just the Edge.  The paper clip (holding the photo..but the photo is really adhered too)... I picked up a package of really cute clips last week at Staples in the Clearance bin for $2.  Who knew I'd use them so soon!!

Anyway, I showed Joseph this layout and told him this was only for his "BEST" work coming home from school...becuase he brings home like 5-8 pieces of paper everyday.  (my homework!! lol).  So then he said "I'll have to work hard to make every project good enough to go in this folder".  uuuhhh..yea... If I'd have known that's all it took???  Well, if it works, I'll be making 12 more of these for Grades 1-12!!
Here's a closeup too.

Animal Memories (ScrapFIT #6)

I had a total blast doing this layout!!!  This is for a challenge at ScrapFIT (#6)
The challenge was
1) Black & White Cardstock
2)  2 (no more or less) pieces of patterned paper
3) Distressing
4) word "memories" in title
5) Black & white photos

So, this is Joseph at the "Hoe-down" playing in the petting zoo
(yea, I know....I keep doing this subject..but I took lots of photos and I'm not done sharing the stories yet!!)

This also fit a challenge at Personal Scrapper (crop) to create a frame (I framed the black with the white and also doodled a frame border around the outside)

Boy Advantage Layout

I really enjoyed creating this page, and am very happy with how it turned out, so I wanted to share it here.
The paper is Bella Blvd Super Stud and came in my Scrapbook Circle kit this month.  The design is taken from a sketch at Little Shop of Sketches.  I've been wanting to scrap this photo for a while, but couldn't quite figure out how to do it.  Waa..laa...  Be sure to click on the layout to enlarge it and read the journaling...it really explains the whole story.  TFL!!!
Oh..this also fit a Bingo challenge for a crop going on over at Personal Scrapper.  -- Links to all sites mentioned in the right section.

Strong Silent Type (Practical Scrapper Lace Cardstock layout)

This week's challenge at Practical Scrappers is to use Lace cardstock.  I used this really pretty brown from Chatterbox (I think from the Artylicious line...please someone correct me if that's wrong...there was no label on the paper or packaging).  I used just a strip across the top and bottom of this Reminisce cowboy paper as a really pretty accent to a very simple page.  The title letters are Pink Paislee and in the close-up you can see I used the little letters to write "You are the" and the larger ones for "Strong Silent Type".

Awesome Daddy

Ok, I usually only put challenge entries on this blog, but I really like this page so I wanted to share it here.  (to see all layouts click on the link in the top left column of this blog...if you have any questions about any of the layouts, just let me know and I'll pull it over here and see if I can answer them!)

Anyway, back to this layout - I guess it really is a challenge entry, but not one that I had to "link" the sites back to my blog.

This is a sketch from Inspired Blueprints....A Million Little Things used the sketch for their "sketch it" blog post this month.  Plus, there was a challenge on Personal Scrapper (crop challenge for Oct 6th about a person you admire).   --  So this is what I ended up with.    I used Creative Imaginations Vibe line for the PP & embellies.  I cut the circle and added some rubons (BG, MM).  A little Bazzill edge up the right side and some ribbon from my stash along the top.

Cows are a Barrel of Fun (ScrapFIT #5)

This layout is for ScrapFIT workout #5.  The challenge is 1) Halloween, 2) Cut one of photos into Mosaic and 3) use Ribbon.

I had to go back and pull pics from Halloween 2007 where we let Joseph dress up in costume for a church "non" Halloween party.  Joseph even helped me put the rub-on letters on this.  TFL!

You (Deco Scissors) Practical Scrappers challenge

I was still messing with my transparencies from the last challenge at Practical Scrappers, when along comes this weeks'....deco scissors....GROAN...ok, it's a challenge board right?...right!! -- Good thing, because I'm really happy with how this turned out.

I hand cut a bunch of circles (ok ovals) with which ever pair of scissors I grabbed out of my box, lol!   I layered them and crinkled them all up -- trying to keep them "boyish".   I also cut a couple of borders to anchor the photo.  After I finished this up last night, I was checking out the site today and see that Kim S (who does FAB work) also did the same flower thing.  I promise I didn't copy (although it wouldn't be bad if I did...that's the point of samples anyway, I guess).  I'll take it as "great minds think alike"...lol!  -- Sorry, there is a little glare in my photo from the transparency.

This also fits into a challenge at Personal Scrapper to "make your own embellishements" -- Oct 5th Crop Challenge.

Winner at ScrapFit

It's a "hoe-down"

This little Christian chuch in our neighborhood had a "hoe-down" on Saturday.  Petting Zoo...Pony rides...free food...blessings...  good fun for a 6 year old.  (We go to a larger Christian chuch in the area, but are happy to support this smaller one).  Joseph heard there were going to be horses, so he wanted to wear his cowboy boots and hat.  So we headed over there, of course with camera in hand... these are my 2 favorite photos from that event.  Watch for these photos soon on layouts!!!

ABC 123 Layout (Transparency Challenge)

This is my entry for the Practical Scrappers challenge this week which is using transparencies.
I found an old one that I really liked and the design is 4 squares, so I just cut them apart and layered them. I also used a Maya Road sheer for the "journey" tag. American Craft alphas, little bit of Bazzill Edge, trim from my stash.
Really enjoy how this one turned out. Clean and simple (with just a little edge) ...just my style? Sorry if the photo looks dark...it's after dark here and the deadline is tomorrow at 2pm (my time) and I won't get home in time from work to photo it in the daylight. Ott light to the rescue ... kinda?
I ususally don't wait til the last minute to take the photos...but I was busy earlier this week....see posts below (or to the left under BLOG ARCHIVE, depending on where you are) !!! TFL!!
