NEW SCRAPPER - JOSEPH PARKER

Ok...so I'm on the Scrap Our Stash Design Team... and I do challenges every week and Joseph knows all about that...so he told me he wanted to do a scrapbook page this week.  He actually did that twice this week.  This is his 2nd layout this week...  (I'll post the other one later)...  I submitted it to my SOS DT challenge for May which is to scrap something "outside your box" and it was posted on that blog today.  I wanted to post it here too.   Below is the verbiage and his layout:

Hi, my name is Joseph and my momma is a scrapbooker. I wanted to do a scrapbook page this week so I asked Momma to help me. I picked pictures of me and Kyle playing Super Soakers. I asked for half white paper and half blue paper. Momma made me pick out the blue. Then I got crayons out of my homework box and melted them like drips of water.

Momma (Joni Parker) here...noting that 1) he is done explaining... 2) I held the heat gun 3) the rest of the story is..... he dug through my extensive alphabet collection to pick out letters that were "kind of cursivey" (his words). And then wrote (with pen) the "journaling".

The reason we are submitting this layout is because when my 6 year old son decided he wanted to "do challenges" with me, I felt that the more the merrier!! So, I figured this was a good place to start. Talk about "outside the box"!!! 6 year old, MALE...melting crayons on a scrapbook page? Yep!

And...I encourage you to get your kids involved in your "ART" -- I had a total blast just watching him be creative and telling me what he wanted next. After an hour (or less), he was done and I was able to get back to work.....INSPIRED by my own son!!

Thanks for letting him share!! I've told him that he gets to read the comments that you guys leave about his layout, so PLEASE leave him some love!!

Nikki Sivils Cards

Ok...so now that I've made a few cards, I'm starting to like it a little...even though I think it's harder to do cards than layouts.  I'm having fun making Easel Cards... so.... Nikki Sivils is having a card challenge this month and since I won some really cool papers from her lines, I thought I'd better give it a shot.
This card I made for my son...he's graduating from Kindergarten this week...so I made him a little "congrats" card from the Henry's Brillance line.

And I made this card for a friend's birthday..although if she sees it here, I guess I'll have to make her a different one!!  Erika...don't read any further...look away!!
  Using Ellie's Day out line.

Like Mother Like Son

Sketch #63 from The Scrappiest is this little treat.

And I used the new MME So Sophie line to create this little gem!!  I was so thrilled to find this photo of MYSELF...and then within 10 minutes of just randomly flipping through photos, I found this one of Joseph.... ahh...love it when it all comes together like that!!

Monkeys Doing Time

Another layout using Sketch #64 from The Scrappiest  -- certainly not my best work... but I still like that I have documented this strange picture.

Ok, I started this layout as 6x12, but it wasn't working... then I saw sThe Scrappiest sketch #64 sitting right in front of me on my SB table and WAA-LAA...

4 Misc Layouts

Here are 4 layouts I've done so far this week..

2 SHOE layouts

Extra layouts & projects

Here are a few random projects that were not for challenges or anything...

This frame was just a little fun 8x10 layout of one of Joseph's little friends that I got this fun pic of...so I framed it and gave it to his parents.

In Living Color

This week's challenge at Frosted Designs our challenge is to "show the rainbow"...
I worked  extra hard on this project....also thinking that I wanted to try something new and different and get "out of my box"  ...so I made all my own embellishments....AND I didn't use ANY patterened paper.  So this layout is also for my DT at Scrap Our Stash where the May challenge is to "get out of your box".
AND-- Scrapfit Workout #20 is to use ONLY Cardstock & embellies..no Patterned Paper, so this fits that challenge too1!
I put the ribbons on a seperate piece of cardstock and glued them down so that's one "big piece" that I could move around.  To make the sun, I cut a circle out of yellow fabric, frayed the edges and ripped a few pieces for the rays.  I sewed the circle on (with the rays) and left a little hole under where the ribbon rainbow is...I stuffed some batting in the hole and made my sun "puffy".  I also made my flowers out of ribbon and fabric and made ric-rac stems & leaves.  Obviously, I didn't make the buttons...  But this layout was lots of fun and lots of work...(from conception on paper to completion took me about a week.....  I did other projects in between, but I took this one nice and slowly and let it build).  Joseph LOVES it...it's bright and fun and he loves the sun & ribbon rainbow (he was around when I was struggling with different ways to make it work..so maybe he has an "appreciation" for it?)  -- Thanks for Looking!   Here's a closeup...

Ornery

This layout is being entered in Practical Scrappers challenge this week to use Patterened Paper.  Actually my good friend Erika and I challenged each other to do a layout from Elizabeth Kartchner's 52 more Scrapbooking Challenges book.  We had to use our "birthday" date to get the challenge..so mine is Sept 21, so Challenge #21 is to Design your own Paper Piece Embellishment.
So I used Sassafras Lass new old old lines.

Honored to be featured on Torendi's site today!!!

A few months ago, I bought some awesome paper kits from Torendi.  I did this layout and kinda put the kits away and forgot about them.  Well, click HERE to go to Torendi's blog...they picked up my layout and have it on their blog today!  So fun.... --- I'm honored....and I need to go back and dig out those kits cause they sure were fun!!!

Here's the verbiage from my original blog post:
This is Joseph doing flips on the Bungy trampoline at Glendale Glitters. (He saves his own money to be able to do this... and yes, that story is scrapbooked already...this is just an extra photo that I thought was fun for this sketch from Sketchy Thursdays & paper). Oh, the paper is Bam Pop that I got in a Torendi kit. And the letters WERE AC Remarks stickers that DIDN'T STICK...they kept peeling up, even when I tried to add glue dots. So I just traced around them and took them off. I think it turned out ok...  ( I Love Happy Accidents!!)

US - Frosted Designs DT (Sanding)

This week at Frosted Designs our challenge is SANDING.... yea...this one is fun fun fun.  So, I took an old puzzle of Joseph's (which I probably bought for him because of the HUGE pieces in the first place...knowing they'd eventually end up in my scrap area)...  Covered the puzzle piece w/Core'dinations Carstock and sanded the edges around the puzzle and the raised embossing on the cardstock.  Used items from my Scrapbook Circle kit (March's I think).    -- Oh, someone asked how I adhere the puzzle piece and keep it secure.  First I do use quite a big of that red Tacky Tape (several companies make it)...and i also used strategically placed brads (see the red ones)...punched all the way through w/my Cropadile.

I MADE A CARD!!!

This month at Scrap Our Stash, the challenge is to do somethign "out of our box"...  ok, perfect time for me to TRY to make a card.  I don't DO cards....they just seem to be missing something (a picture maybe?)...
So, I've been seeing the "easel cards" and that looked interesting, so I gave it a whirl and this is what I came up with. I'm actually very happy with it.  It's for my son's teacher for "end of the year"... can you believe that?  The school year is almost over?  (our first one...he'll be in 1st Grade next year....scary!!)
Sorry, got off track there.  TFL!!

Layouts for Kindergarten Book

I went back and pulled out all the layouts I've done that applied to Joseph in Kindergarten this year...first day (a couple of those) and lots w/his homework...etc.  I'm putting them all into one book and taking it to his school this Friday.  I have some more to do, but it'll be done (40 pages) by the end of the year.  Here are a few I've done this past week that haven't been posted (I did post one of these, but I'm posting it again because somehow Grandma missed the prior post).
I must say that I LOVE the MRS B & ME layout (his teacher).

10 layouts - Challenges

This weekend Memorable Seasons had a Moody Moody May Day Crop.  Since Saturday 5/1 was National Scrapbook day, I took the liberty of spending Friday & Saturday cropping.  I did all 10 challenges for Memorable Seasons, plus a few extra.  I'm going to post the 10 for MS here with quick explanations...so sorry for the long post, but better than 10!! (I think?)
Oh, the whole crop was based on COLORS...(Like a mood ring)

1)  No Color challenge - use only white & use at least 6 products.

2)  Blue Challenge - use blue & document a sad/troubling/hard time....

3) Red - use 2 pieces of red, one heart & document a relationship

4)  Orange - use orange & about "adventure"

5) Color me Happy - this was a technique to melt crayons (was supposed to be a rainbow, but I went a little off the beaten path with it)

6) Black - use black & a faux linen technique using tissue paper (on the green circle paper)

7)  Green - didn't have to use the color green...but need to "go green", using scraps or recycled items.
The dotted paper is old out of my scrap bin, the square numbered print is the lid to a game box and the cork is a coaster.  The alphas are "new" Dear Lizzy Thickers (we had to use something we just spent "green" on too).
8) Brown - use brown & document a secret indulgence
9) Purple - (hard one for me!) -- use purple somewhere and use royal theme (name/crown..etc)
10) Yellow - use yellow as main theme and document a birthday.  I did a card (for a change), but I think I"m going to add a big red flower in that big empty space on the left.

4 Freckles

I used Scrappiest Sketch #62 for this layout.  I did it on Thursday but just having a chance to post it due to NSD madness!!!  I'm not a fan of the "banner trend", but I'm giving it a try.
